Court Report: Cops Attempt To Place Mask On Suspect Who Repeatedly Spit At Them

This week’s Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from the Monday and Tuesday Nantucket District Court sessions. It is led with a case involving a Boston man who assaulted police officers last week and began spitting on them so much that they tried to put a mask on him.
Kyle Woodlock, 31, of Boston, was arraigned on Aug. 9 charges of assault & battery on a police officer (four counts), assault on ambulance personnel, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court Aug. 28 for a pretrial hearing.
According to the police report, officers were dispatched to Cru restaurant for a male party who was refusing to leave. A Cru employee led officers to Woodlock, who was sitting on the ground outside.
As officers attempted to arrange a ride home for Woodlock, he presented the officers with an ultimatum: Either give him a ride home or move along.
Woodlock then proceeded to raise his voice while telling police he did nothing illegal. Police told him he was disturbing customers and as they tried to bring him to his feet, Woodlock grabbed onto an umbrella pole. Eventually, he was placed in handcuffs but went “dead weight” – forcing officers to drag him to the cruiser.
Police said Woodlock actively resisted getting into the cruiser – using his knees and legs to prevent them from getting him inside. They had to place him in the cruiser with physical force.
Once they arrived at the police station, Woodlock refused to get out of the cruiser and forced police to remove him. He was placed in a holding cell and while officers attempted to place him in an ankle cuff, they said Woodlock was “extremely uncooperative and resistive” while flaring his body all over the cell.
Police went on to say that Woodlock spit in the direction of a female officer but missed. His behavior led to the Nantucket Fire Department’s assistance being requested, and he proceeded to spit on two police officers, an EMT, and grabbed another female officer’s ankle – preventing her from walking out of the cell.
Police said Woodlock was spitting so much at them that they attempted to place a mask on him.
Eventually, officers were able to get Woodlock onto a stretcher. While being carried, he attempted to kick a firefighter.
