Plein-air students should have enough experience painting in oils to feel comfortable working with the medium and painting independently using an outdoor easel and have familiarity and a comfort level with a plein-air set up. Students will focus primarily on how to convey a sense of light in their paintings by identifying, clarifying and establishing proper value relationships. Using exercises to help simplify these concepts, students will work to achieve clean color in our paintings, and utilize value patterns to aid in developing successful compositions. Click here to register.
Eureka Day at the Theatre Workshop of Nantucket: 7:00 pm at Theatre Workshop, 62 Centre St. – At the progressive “Eureka Day School” in Berkeley, California, a mumps outbreak forces the members of the school’s parent/administrator executive committee to confront a crisis they never imagined. Known for consensus-driven decision-making, “holding space,” and an ethos of inclusivity, the group seriously grapples with a vaccine-health-policy issue that splinters their community. What begins as polite negotiation rapidly descends into raw ideological conflict, live-streamed parent meetings, emoji-driven outrage, and a larger question: when science meets values, and consensus collapses, can a community survive? Marked by biting humor, rapid-fire dialogue, and serious stakes, the play is both a farce and a mirror: it skewers “woke” liberalism, but also holds tenderness for parents trying to do right by their kids. It asks: Is there still room for doubt in a world where everyone demands certainty? And: what happens when the tools of inclusion become barriers to action? –
The dark comedy won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. Tickets are $75 and can be found here.
