Current Court Report - April 5, 2023

This week’s Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from Monday and Tuesday’s Nantucket District Court session. This week is the court’s April jury week session, so there will be court sessions throughout the week.

After being continued without a finding for one year, Christopher J. Boccio, 33, of Port Washington, New York, had a September 28, 2021 charge of possessing a class D drug with the intent to distribute dismissed.

Kenneth Martin Hammond, 70, of Nantucket, will have an assault and battery charge dismissed on the condition he complete four months of pretrial probation and an anger management program.

Charlotte O. Lewis, 29, Biddeford, Maine, had a Dec. 20, 2021charge of larceny under $1,200 dismissed by the Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office due to a lack of cooperation from the alleged victim.

Tabitha O. Lippi, 27, of Nantucket, was found guilty by a jury on a  September 3, 2021 charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and sentenced to one year of probation. She was also ordered to pay a $50 victim-witness fee and $250 head-injury fee. She was found not-guilty on an operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol charge stemming from the same incident.

Vernon David Matson, 51, of Nantucket, was arraigned on a March 27 charge of assault and battery. He had a not-guilty plea entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court May 15 for a pretrial hearing.

Larry Ramirez, 44, of Miami, FL, was arraigned in court on April 24, 2022 charges of larceny under $1,200, vandalizing property, and trespassing. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court May 22 for a pretrial hearing.

Excil Reid, 36, of Nantucket was arraigned in court on a Feb. 16 charge of distributing a class B drug and a March 1 charge of distributing a class B drug. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court May 22 for a pretrial hearing.

Tyler Rioux, 32, of Nantucket, will have April 15, 2022 charges of assault and battery on a police officer, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, assault and battery, and resisting arrest continued without a finding for one year. He was ordered to remain drug and alcohol free while complying with random tests for the first six months. If he completes the random tests without a violation, they will end after six months.

Rioux will also be required to complete a substance abuse evaluation and comply with any testing deemed necessary. A Duquette Ruling was issued, meaning that if Rioux violates his probation in any way, he will serve one year in the Barnstable House of Corrections. Rioux was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,420 for the motor vehicle damage.

Jason E. Thomas, 47, of Nantucket, will have a July 25, 2022 charge of assault with a dangerous weapon continued without a finding for one year. He was ordered to stay away from the Muse and victims in the case and pay a $50 victim-witness fee. A Duquette Ruling was issued, meaning if Thomas violates his probation in any way he will be sentenced to the Barnstable House of Corrections for 90 days.
