This week’s Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from the Tuesday Nantucket District Court session.

Lori Geddes, 65, of Nantucket was arraigned on October 10th charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, marked lanes violation (four counts), failure to stop for police, and leaving the scene of property damage (two counts). She had not-guilty pleas entered on her behalf and was ordered to return to court November 9th for a pretrial hearing.

According to the police report, while officer Seamus McArdle was in the area of Boulevarde at Rainbows End, he observed a Black Nissan Frontier allegedly traveling in his direction at 55 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour speed zone. When the officer turned on his blue lights, Geddes allegedly accelerated in speed towards his direction and passed his cruiser, crossing over the yellow lines numerous times.

Eventually, the vehicle allegedly travelled off the road and into thick, short brush for about 10 yards until it reached a driveway and reentered the roadway.

“The vehicle turned right from the shoulder back onto the roadway and accelerated south down the Boulevarde,” McArdle said in his report. “The vehicle's operation caused a vehicle traveling in the northbound lane to pull all the way to the right onto the multi-use path. The vehicle then attempted to turn left onto Lovers Lane. The vehicle passed the turn for Lovers Lane and traveled off the roadway across the multi-use path and into the woods. Before I could get out of my cruiser, Ms. Geddes put the vehicle in reverse and backed out of the woods back into the intersection of Lovers Lane and the Boulevarde. Ms. Geddes then attempted to pull forward slowly in front of my cruiser and did not completely stop until I had exited my cruiser, stood in front of her vehicle, held my hand up and yelled ‘Stop.’”

Geddes allegedly showed signs of intoxication at the scene as she was being handcuffed, and was transported to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital where she was allegedly uncooperative with police officers and acting erratically.

Junior Cruceta Gonzalez, 35, of Nantucket was arraigned on an October 11th charge of assault & battery on a family/household member. He had a not-guilty plea entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court November 16th for a pretrial hearing.

Ronald Marquez Rivera, 26, of Nantucket was arraigned on August 5thcharges of leaving the scene of personal injury and a crosswalk violation. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court December 14th for a pretrial hearing.

According to the police report, Rivera allegedly struck a biker in the area of Old South Road and Amelia Drive with his White Toyota Highlander while the biker was attempting to cross the road on the cross walk. When the biker got up and attempted to speak with the driver, he allegedly drove away.

Walter A. Quevedo Najera, 27, of Nantucket was arraigned on an August 10th charge of possessing a counterfeit note (felony). He had a not-guilty plea entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court December 14th for a pretrial hearing.

According to the police report, Najera allegedly used counterfeit $100 bills with the statement “For Motion Picture Purposes” written on them multiple times when buying drinks at The Muse on August 10th.

“Mr. Quevedo Najera stated that he was given the counterfeit money by a tall Dominican male with a beard and that he did not know the money was fake,” officer Gwen Nelson stated in her police report. “Mr. Quevedo Najera confirmed that he had possession of the counterfeit money and willfully obtained the eight counterfeit $100 dollar bills from this unknown male party. Mr. Quevedo Najera went up to the bar on multiple occasions and only used the counterfeit $100 bills to purchase alcoholic beverages.”

Police said Najera would allegedly pocket the change, which were real $20 dollar bills, and would return to the bar with another counterfeit $100 dollar bill instead of using the change that was given to him.

De Andre Rodreick Spencer King, 22, of Nantucket was arraigned on August 2nd charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and a marked lanes violation. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court November 2nd for a pretrial hearing.
