First Mega Yacht Of The Season Arrives: Herb Chambers' "Excellence"

The first mega yacht of the season arrived in Nantucket Harbor on Monday and it was a jaw-dropper. Herb Chambers' 263-foot "Excellence" is currently tied up at Straight Wharf. Chambers, the billionaire businessman who owns 60 car dealerships in Greater Boston, commissioned the yacht, which was completed in Germany in 2019 by Abeking & Rasmusse.

"Excellence" rents for approximately $1.16 million per week during the season. It has a crew of 22 people, and accommodates 12 guests in seven cabins. The yacht cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots with a range of up to 6,300 nautical miles from its 150,000 litre fuel tanks. A source tells the Current that Chambers is on the island for a relative's wedding.
