Island Residents 2026 Boston Marathon Results
David Creed •
The Boston Marathon is underway and Nantucket is well represented with runners who are either running for a great cause or qualified for the event. We will provide updates on each runner below as their times become available.
David Desnoyers
Final Time: 3:25:51
David Desnoyers ran the Boston Marathon not once, but twice(!) in one day. Desnoyers participated in what is called the “Double Boston” where he was one of several runners to get up around 2 a.m., run the marathon from the finish line to the starting line beginning at approximately 3 a.m., take a brief two hour break to regroup, change clothes, shoes, eat food and hydrate, and then run the traditional marathon from start to finish. He was in the marathon’s first wave of runners.
"The group that I'm doing this with, these six other runners, we've all raced with this group called the Trail Animal Run Club, and they are a non-profit that puts 5Ks and Ultra marathon trail races on in the state of Massachusetts in different state forests all across the state," he said before the race.
"This will actually be my first Boston (Marathon)," Desnoyers continued. "So taking it on as a double was actually an effort to take the pressure off the time component. So signing up to do this with a group of people, it's kind of a different task."
Desnoyers told the Current he began to run once he arrived on the island to give himself an outlet physically and mentally. He spoke glowingly about the Monument Running Group and the running community on the island.
"(The Monument Running Group) has been a great community to be a part of," Desnoyers said. "Phenomenal people."
George Vasvatekis
Final Time: 3:29:12
George Vasvatekis ran the Boston Marathon and for a third straight year, supported the Bill Belichick Foundation — an organization dedicated to helping young people engage in sports and education, creating opportunities for the next generation of athletes and leaders.
“Every donation I receive will go directly toward programs that empower youth through athletics, building confidence, discipline, and community,” Vasvatekis says on his fundraiser page. “Together, we can help shape a brighter, stronger future.”

Final Time: 4:57:17
Alexa Aloisi ran the Boston Marathon in honor of her Aunt, who passed away of cancer in 2024, and all of the money she raised will go towards the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
"This is why I am running for the Dana Farber Foundation and its cancer research," Aloisi said on her fundraiser page. "One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute."

Paterson plays a large role in the island’s community.
“This incredible institution works tirelessly to provide top-notch medical care and support to everyone in the community,” Paterson says on her fundraiser page. “By supporting my fundraising campaign, you help advance their innovative research, patient programs, and life-saving treatments.
