Aimee Carew-Lyons Named New NCH Chief Nursing Officer

The Nantucket Cottage Hospital is hiring Aimee Carew-Lyons, PhD, RN, as their new Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President for Patient Care. They announced the move late Thursday afternoon. Carew-Lyons first day on the job will be on August 8, 2022.
Darcy Abbott, who had been serving as the interim Chief Nursing Officer since 2021, will be leaving NCH following a transfer of duties, public information officer James Lanza told the Current.
Carew-Lyons has held multiple administrative and clinical leadership positions in her past. She most recently was the Chief Clinical Officer at Fenway Health, a Boston health center providing LGBTQ care and advocacy founded by Northeastern University. Before Fenway Health, Carew-Lyons held nursing leadership positions at Franciscan Children’s Hospital, serving as the CNO and COO (chief operating officer) and was the Director of Medical-Surgical ICU and Critical Care Transport Team at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Carew-Lyons has an undergraduate degree from Northeastern University, a master’s degree from Boston College, and a PhD in Nursing (Population Health) from the University of Massachusetts.
Carew-Lyons is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner, has numerous peer-review articles, and has presented nationally regarding the care of children.
Carew-Lyons is also engaged in several community volunteer initiatives such as serving as a health care consultant to the YMCA, and served on the METCO board of directors. She also continues to serve as a volunteer at the Shultz Guest House Dog Rescue and Adoption Agency.
