First responders rushed to Bartlett Road Tuesday afternoon after a child was struck by a car in the roadway.

The victim - reportedly a young girl - suffered only minor injuries, and was taken by ambulance to Nantucket Cottage Hospital for treatment. The road was briefly shut down during the incident, which occurred around 2:15 p.m. near the Surfside Road intersection as the public schools were getting out.

The Nantucket Police Department is currently investigating the incident.

“The juvenile was transported to NCH by NFD with minor injuries," Nantucket Police Department Lt. Angus MacVicar told the Current. "The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigating officer."

MacVicar added that the incident did not occur in the intersection or crosswalk.
