Who’s ready for Daffodil Weekend?
A crew from Coast Guard Station Brant Point put up a decorated wreath Saturday morning on the Brant Point Lighthouse with the annual spring celebration just weeks away. The wreath was once again created by island resident and florist Hafsa Lewis.

After a two-year hiatus amid the pandemic, the Nantucket Daffodil Festival will return later this month for the 46th annual event, and the island is preparing for the big weekend. The Nantucket Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event set for April 22-24 will feature the annual Daffodil Antique Car Parade followed by a tailgate picnic in Sconset, along with other activities like the Children's Bike Parade, Daffy Hat Parade, and the Daffodil Dog Parade.
Many people ask: why the Coast Guard members at the top of the lighthouse are wearing hazmat suits? That area of the lighthouse contains lead and asbestos. It’s just a precaution the Coasties have to take when working inside the lighthouse.
