Driver Arrested After Late Night Crash On Orange Street

No one was injured in a single car accident on Orange Street early this morning when a BMW sedan crashed, causing its airbags to deploy. Nantucket Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, and briefly closed Orange Street to traffic.

The female driver of the white BMW sedan with Florida plates was taken into custody by Nantucket Police officers after appearing to fail a field sobriety test just before 1 a.m. She was the only occupant in the car.

According to the Nantucket Police Department public log, the individual arrested as a result of the incident was Samantha Anne Shaw, 37, of 11 Brewster Road. She was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a class E substance, and driving while under the influence of alcohol.
