Glyn’s Marine, a professional island boating service for over two decades, was sold to BlueWater Marina, a real estate firm that specializes in developing, acquiring, and operating marinas along the east coast of the United States, last week for $5.5 million. BlueWater Marine made the deal in partnership with Bain Capital.

Glyn’s Marine, a .8-acre property spanning from 8 to 10 Arrowhead Drive, will reportedly continue to operate as it always has despite the change in leadership.

“The heart of Glyn’s, its people, its values, and its dedication to the island will remain the same, BlueWater said in their press release. “Under the ownership and leadership of Roger and Patti Stolte, the business has built a reputation for trust, reliability, and hands-on care that has earned the loyalty of their customers. Known for its commitment to quality service and personal relationships with boaters, Glyn’s has become a cornerstone of the local boating community.”

BlueWater Marina’s founder and principal Joe Miller is a summer resident on Nantucket, and he said they “are honored to continue the legacy that Roger and Patti have created.”

“We are not here to change Glyn’s, rather we are here to support it with additional resources so that Glyn’s can continue to thrive for the long run,” Miller said.

BlueWater said that the Stoltes will remain involved in the transition to ensure continuity for customers and staff, and day-to-day operations will continue to be led by the Glyn’s team currently in place who have been part of the business for years in order to continue providing the same high-quality service the island depends on.

“For current customers, operations will continue as usual,” BlueWater said. “Service schedules, staff contacts, and day-to-day operations will remain consistent, ensuring a seamless experience. Additionally, customers can expect the same trusted seasonal prep, boat storage, and service offerings, now with added support and gradual enhancements aimed at elevating the overall customer experience.”
