The Nantucket Land Bank completed the purchase of 95 Miacomet Avenue Thursday afternoon, a 6.2 acre property, for $3 million. The land is adjacent to the Land Bank's 70-acre Burchell Farm property that runs along the northern half of Miacomet Pond.
The sellers of the property is listed as Sallyanne Austin as a trustee and Stuart W. Rapp as the Independent Special Trustee of the Austin Family Charitable Remainder Trust and Irrevocable Trust.
"This 6.2 acre parcel, located at 95 Miacomet Avenue, represents a beautiful and diverse woodland containing a variety of pine, oak, hickory, and larch trees," the Land Bank said in an announcement. "The purchase will allow the Land Bank to expand its adjacent trail system at Burchell Farm and protects this contiguous habitat forever. The Austin family actively managed the forest for many years and felt strongly that it should be preserved in its natural state. In honor of their steadfast commitment to conservation, the property will henceforth be known as 'Austin Woods.'"
Since the start of 2022, the Land Bank has been on something of a spending spree, having dolled out $27.8 million for properties at Eel Point, East Creek Road, Washington Street, Nobadeer Avenue, North Mill Street, and now Miacomet Avenue.
