A 65-year-old man was rescued in the harbor on Thursday by staff from the Nantucket Harbormaster's office and members of Coast Guard Station Brant Point.

A beachgoer reported a man in distress in the waters off Pocomo in Nantucket Harbor late Thursday afternoon. Nantucket Harbormaster Sheila Lucey said the man had been either kiteboarding or windsurfing - she was unsure which - and got separated from his equipment.

Lucey said a boat from her department was launched with two of her staff aboard, along with two members of Coast Guard Station Brant Point, and they were able to recover the man from the water. They transported him back to Coast Guard Station Brant Point where an ambulance was waiting to treat the man for potential hypothermia given the water temperature.
