The Nantucket Historical Association announced Tuesday that Martha Stewart will be the keynote speaker for its 2025 Nantucket by Design event with her good friend and acclaimed landscape designer, Fernando Wong.
Nantucket by Design, held July 14 - 17, is the NHA's annual celebration of art, design, and history that brings together world-renowned designers, artisans, and skilled craftspeople through panels, keynotes, social events, and more.
The event benefits the NHA and its mission to preserve, interpret, and share the diverse stories of Nantucket with all audiences through its collections, properties, programs, and research.
This year’s theme, “interwoven,” corresponds to the NHA’s 2025 featured exhibition, Behind the Seams: Clothing and Textiles on Nantucket. Stewart will appear for the keynote address on Tuesday, July 15.
Stewart has been recognized as a lifestyle visionary since her first book, Martha Stewart’s Entertaining, was released in 1982. Since then, she has achieved global acclaim, hosting Emmy-award-winning television shows, creating a media and merchandising company, and solidifying herself as a bestselling author, with her 100th book, Martha: The Cookbook, published in the Fall of 2024. Stewart continues to reach millions of fans through her product lines and multi-media platforms, sharing information on subjects including, but not limited to, cooking, entertaining, interior design, gardening, weddings, and holidays. Her 101st book, Martha Stewart’s Gardening Handbook, was released in March.
Fernando Wong founded his firm, Fernando Wong Outdoor Living, with partner Tim Johnson in 2005. Originally based in Miami, the firm has since expanded to house locations in Palm Beach, FL, and Southampton, NY. Wong works internationally on both commercial and residential projects, including pools, gardens, fountains, and sculpture gardens. His work has gathered critical acclaim, with Elle Decor once identifying Wong as “one of the most influential landscape designers in America,” solidifying him as a visionary in the field. He recently published his first book, The Young Man and the Tree: Fernando Wong Landscape Design, in the fall of 2024.
