Mid-Island Stop & Shop Scrambles To Save Food After Refrigeration Goes Down
Jason Graziadei •
The mid-island Stop & Shop’s entire refrigeration system went down early Monday morning around 2 a.m. due to a compressor issue, according to store manager Ted Miller.
It took a ”small army” of workers hours to move thousands of pounds of meat, cheese, dairy products and produce into several refrigerated trailers outside the store in the parking lot to save them.
The compressor issue was fixed by late Monday morning, and employees worked throughout the day to return the food back into the store, with assistance from additional workers that Stop & Shop sent from the mainland.
