Nantucket Community Pool To Open On Sundays For First Time In More Than A Decade

The Nantucket Community School announced this week that the Nantucket Community Pool at Nantucket High School will begin offering Sunday hours in September, marking the first time the pool has been open on Sundays in more than a decade.

The pool will be open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with lap swim from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by additional adult programming from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., starting Sept. 13, 2026.

“We are so thankful for our continued partnership with the Nantucket Public School’s facilities department, which has been supportive of this expansion,” said Nantucket Community School executive director Alicia Graziadei. “Scheduling pool time at Nantucket Community Pool has become increasingly challenging as we try to navigate all of the needs of our growing community. Providing Sunday hours will allow us to continue increasing our programming and community reach.”

The Community School stated that the expanded schedule comes in response to community feedback and provides more opportunities for residents to swim, stay active, and participate in aquatic programming.

“Opening the pool on Sundays is an exciting step in providing accessible lap swim and programming to the community,” said Isabelle Roberts, Aquatics Coordinator at the Nantucket Community Pool. “I know that weekday schedules don’t work for everyone, and these additional weekend hours give more individuals the opportunity to swim, participate in programs, and stay active. Expanding our operating hours also gives us the opportunity to add programming that we have not had the time for in the past. I’m looking forward to continuing to build an active and inclusive community pool.”

A detailed Sunday schedule, including lap swim lane availability and adult program offerings, will be available prior to the September 13 opening.
