Nantucket Garden Club Grants Deadline July 15
Waverly Brannigan •
The Nantucket Garden Club raises funds to provide grants to foster local interest in gardening, horticulture, and landscaping to improve the quality of Nantucket’s environment. Through their grants, the Nantucket Garden Club has provided gardens for the Nantucket Lighthouse School and Nantucket Cottage Hospital, planted trees with the Maria Mitchell Association and bulbs along Milestone Road, and much more.
The Club’s grant program responds to funding requests from community groups and organizations that promote knowledge and love of horticulture, conserve the ecological well-being of Nantucket, and to raise and expend money for public benefit that contributes to the beauty of the island. Requests can be for ongoing programs or seed money for new projects, and applications can range from a few hundred dollars to much larger amounts.
This year, the Nantucket Garden Club has $20,000 in grant funding to distribute, with the application deadline quickly approaching on July 15th, 2023. For over 60 years, the club's members have volunteered and fundraised year-round to provide funds to support community projects that improve the island’s environment.
If you are interested in receiving a grant from the Nantucket Garden Club, please fill out the Community Grant Application Form and submit it via email to INFO@NANTUCKETGARDENCLUB.ORG by the July 15th deadline.
Further, The Club’s 67th annual House and Garden tour, “Summer on Orange,” which funds the scholarship and grant programs, is coming up on August 2nd, which their year-round volunteering efforts go towards. This year, the tour will feature six homes and one additional garden, followed by a complimentary tea at St. Paul’s Church, along with a boutique featuring many unique items. Tickets for the event can be bought here.
