NCF Hosts Fall Festival On Sunday Amid Healthy Cranberry Harvest

The Nantucket Conservation Foundation is hosting its Fall Festival this Sunday. The free, family-friendly festival will feature hayrides, games, live music, a puppet show, and fresh local cranberries. The festival also features the Batacular Bike Race.
The festival will be held at 220 Milestone Road from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering a chance for families to get outside and experience what the island has to offer in the fall.
The Fall Festival comes amidst NCF’s annual cranberry harvest, which the foundation reports has been strong and healthy so far this year. NCF continues to operate functional cranberry bogs on-island, maintaining an old Nantucket tradition that would otherwise be defunct, although it has transitioned from a wet harvest to a dry one.
“Cranberry farming plays an important role in our community and is deeply tied to the island’s history and culture,” said Nick Larrabee, NCF Director of Land Management and third-generation cranberry farmer. “We’re proud to see such a strong harvest this year. It reflects the health of the land and the care we put into managing it. As the island’s sole cranberry producer, we’re committed to meeting the demand and are happy to share the harvest with individuals, local businesses, and food insecurity programs.”
NCF also ensures that the bogs remain a healthy, functioning ecosystem.
Freshly harvested NCF cranberries are available for purchase at the Foundation’s office at 118 Cliff Road during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. NCF is also selling native plants. Both the plants and the cranberries will be for sale at the Fall Festival.
