NHA Board President Chip Carver Resigns
Nantucket Current •
Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) board president Chip Carver is resigning, the non-profit announced on Sunday. Current NHA board vice president Susan Blount will assume the role of president effective June 1.
“The NHA today remains an important institution on the Island of Nantucket," Blount said in a statement released by the NHA. "The outlook for the future has never looked brighter, thanks to our dedicated staff. Last week, we welcomed a dynamic new Executive Director, Niles Parker. While the pandemic was a challenging time for everyone on the island, we exited it stronger than we entered, with zero debt and a substantial endowment. This financial strength will allow us to invest over $2 million in our portfolio of properties over a two-year period and produce an exciting line-up of exhibits that we will be sharing with the public this summer."
Carver will remain a trustee until the NHA's annual meeting on July 8, 2022. "Carver helped guide the organization through the pandemic and led the charge on a nationwide search to hire a new Gosnell Executive Director," the NHA stated in its announcement. "He has made a tremendous impact on the organization during a pivotal time while being a generous supporter. The NHA thanks him for his commitment and guidance over the last two years."
