NHS Senior Natalie Mack Receives DAR Good Citizen Award
Nantucket Current •
Nantucket High School senior Natalie Mack has been awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution 2022 Good Citizen Award.
The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess good citizenship qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. The winning students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
Below is Cyrus Peirce Middle School librarian Becky Hickman's introduction of Mack during last week's ceremony:
"I am so honored and pleased to present the Daughters of the American Revolution 2022 Good Citizen Award to Natalie Mack. Natalie was chosen by the faculty and sta of Nantucket High School, and for good reason!
Natalie has consistently been on the Honor Roll or the Principal’s List and is a member of the National Honor Society. In addition to being a dedicated student, Natalie is also involved in a number of extracurricular activities. To name a few - she is a member of the Nantucket Skating Club, the Nantucket Island Waves synchronized skating team, the Whaler Field Hockey team and the Swim team. Additionally, Natalie is an active member of the Nantucket High School newspaper, Veritas, as the Assistant Editor in Chief and contributing writer, and she has performed in the school musicals and drama club productions. She is probably most known for her performance as Morticia in the Addams Family (my personal favorite!). The list is too long to mention in regard to her involvement in school groups! Natalie is an animal lover, volunteering her time at NISHA as well as dog sitting, dog walking and fostering.
If Natalie looks familiar to you, you may have seen her perform in her band, Local Notes, that she formed with her friends (and her dad)!"
Fun fact...Natalie’s dad, Jerry Mack, was the DAR Good Citizen of the Year in 1988!
