The 9th annual Run For Robin 5K took place Sunday morning with over 600 runners flocking to Sconset and gathering at the Sconset Casino to participate in this year’s event.
This 5K is a major fundraising event for the Harvey Foundation, which has awarded over $140,000 in scholarship money over the course of the past eight years to deserving student athletes who are moving on to further their education post-high school. A vast majority of these scholarship funds comes from this 5K, the foundation says.
The 5K was originally set up in honor of Robin Harvey, who was tragically struck and killed by a car while training for the Boston Marathon in 2015. Over the past eight years, over 5,000 people have participated in this event.
“Not only is this race set up to pay tribute to Robin and her beautiful life, but also to raise money for the foundation, including the scholarship award,” the foundation says.
