Photo Gallery: Fourth of July on Nobadeer Beach
Kit Noble •
Nobadeer Beach was one of the most popular destinations on Nantucket during the Fourth of July holiday, as thousands descended upon the popular south shore location next to Nantucket Memorial Airport to enjoy a beautiful day.
When Nantucket Harbormaster Sheila Lucey's lifeguards arrived at the beach around 10 a.m., there were already more than 1,000 people and several hundred cars on the beach. By 2:30 p.m., Nantucket Police said Nobadeer had reached "vehicle capacity" and prohibited further vehicle access.
At its peak, Lucey said her lifeguards estimated at least 4,000 people were congregating at Nobadeer. Photographer Kit Noble captured these shots of the day.
