Reis Trucking announced on Friday that it has been sold through a corporate recapitalization and has merged with Santos Rubbish and Island Rubbish.

The new ownership group is led by Island Rubbish owners Tim Vieth, Lindsay Congleton, and Christian Yates, together with Nantucket business leaders Bruce Percelay and Chris Yates.

The new combined entity, which will operate as Reis Trucking, will be headed by chief executive officer and longtime Reis Trucking leader Charlie O’Neil, who has more than 30 years of experience in the waste management industry.

Reis Trucking, founded in 1955 by Myles and Priscilla Reis, has operated as a family-owned company on the island for more than 70 years, providing household and construction waste management services. The existing Island Rubbish management team will join the combined company.

"Customers of all organizations can expect continuity of service, with no change to current service arrangements," the companies stated in a press release.

“We are pleased to partner with experienced local operators who have deep roots in Nantucket," said Myles Reis in a statement. "This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to serving the island responsibly and supporting the needs of residents and businesses today and into the future.

“We are excited to work alongside Myles and Charlie as Reis Trucking and Island Rubbish come together," Vieth said in a statement. "This combination strengthens our ability to provide dependable, high-quality service to Nantucket’s residents and businesses while remaining mindful of the island’s unique character and environment. We look forward to continuing to serve the community and contributing to the long-term well-being of Nantucket.”

Disclosure: Bruce Percelay is the owner and publisher of Nantucket Current.
