Select Board, Airport Commission To Hold Joint Meeting Tonight On Controversial Expansion Project
Nantucket Current •
The Select Board and the Nantucket Airport Commission will convene a joint meeting tonight at 5 p.m. to discuss the controversial ramp expansion project to accommodate large private jets.
After hearing emotional pleas from neighbors of the airport, the Select Board voted last month to request that the Airport Commission delay the project until today's joint meeting could be held. The project - a $40 million expansion of the airport's south ramp - would include the removal of six acres of forest abutting the residential properties along Monohansett Road and Okorwaw Avenue.

The joint meeting will be held in person today at 5 p.m. in the community meeting room of the Fairgrounds Road Public Safety Facility, but there is also the option to watch and participate in the meeting remotely. The Zoom link for the meeting can be found here.
