Temporary Runway Closure At Nantucket Airport On Monday

Beginning on Monday, August 5, the Nantucket Memorial Airport's runway 6/24 will be closed for the annual painting of runway markings to maintain compliance with FAA Part 139. The closure will start at 7 p.m. on Monday and is expected to be completed before 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

Lighted runway X’s will be placed at both ends of runway 6/24 to indicate its closure.

The crosswind runway (15/33) will remain open during this time. This will result in increased aircraft traffic over Town.

According to the town, the painting machines are relatively quiet and comparable to a running lawn mower. With the nearest home approximately 1,000 feet away, the airport anticipates minimal to no disturbances.
