Thrift Shop Donates $625K To Nantucket Cottage Hospital
Nantucket Current •
Wrapping up its 95th year in business on India Street, the Hospital Thrift Shop presented a gift Tuesday morning to Nantucket Cottage Hospital from its sales of used goods over its five-month season in 2024.
The check was for a whopping $625,000, matching the Thrift Shop's gift last year, which was its largest donation ever in a single year.
“I can’t thank the staff and volunteers of the Thrift Shop enough for their ongoing dedication and hard work," Nantucket Cottage Hospital president Amy Lee said. "These much-needed funds will go toward new, improved mammography equipment, a new state-of-the-art ultrasound machine, and supplemental funding for employee housing."
The Hospital Thrift Shop has now donated more than $8 million to the hospital since 1929.
The Thrift Shop sells used goods donated from the community from May through October and donates the proceeds each year to Nantucket Cottage Hospital. It’s run by a small group of staff, volunteers, and board members.
“I would like to thank the entire Thrift Shop team for another exceptional year and this generous donation. Fulfilling our mission to our island community would not be possible without your generous support, and for that, we are eternally grateful,” said Craig Muhlhauser, chair of the NCH Board of Trustees.
