A crew from Coast Guard Station Brant Point rescued two people Monday night after an 18-foot center console boat crashed into the east jetty. No one was injured during the incident, according to Station Brant Point's BM1 Charlie Smith, and the two occupants of the boat were safely removed and taken to Station Brant Point aboard a Coast Guard vessel. Sea Tow pulled the boat off the jetty later Monday night and towed it to Children's Beach.

The occupants of the boat reported that their GPS went out in the channel as they were returning to Nantucket Harbor. While they attempted to regain their electronics, the boat struck the jetty. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident, Smith said.
