Stop Passing School Buses!

To the editor: Did you know it is illegal in the state of Massachusetts to pass a school bus with flashing red lights?
I stand on Old South Road with my son every morning waiting for the school bus and then walk with my daughter down Old South Road to her school, and almost daily I see cars passing the bus with flashing red lights or hear the bus honking at someone who has passed him while the lights are on. This morning two vehicles passed the stopped bus just as my son was about to cross the street to board.
As traffic is increasing with the upcoming busy season, I ask that people please slow down, pay attention, and if you are behind the school bus...please be patient.
And a big thank you goes out to the bus drivers who get our kids to school safely every day.
