The GE Vernova Settlement Is A Mere Pittance
Anthony Walsh •
To the editor: The (GE Vernova) settlement is a mere pittance, not worthy of the event. Lawyers can work a settlement today for $10 million for the man who suffered the wrong cologne on an elevator. No harm, no foul is a very old saw with no standing today. The mere cost of litigation elevates the most worthless cause. But this was not a harmless event without severe public and private impact
Think $50 million basic. And wouldn’t you think that the people of this town have a right to know who gets what by way of compensation from the Community Claims Fund with an independent third-party administrator? Yes, there will be a report, but no names! But take comfort, the lawyers will do well. There appear to have been three law firms at the trough just for the town. I feel like I was reading Bleak House all over again.
