Where Did Nantucket's Short-Term Rental Data Go?

To the editor: The Current recently published an opinion letter from Dr. Eric Silfen supporting the passage of Article 2, one of many letters on one side or the other of the short-term rental (STR) debate in advance of Nov. 4th’s special town meeting. The most interesting thing about the letter was its inclusion of a link to an analytics company’s website that claims to contain accurate, detailed Airbnb information about the STR market on Nantucket. Among other measures, the site names the individuals and companies that made the most money in 2025 renting Nantucket STR properties on Airbnb, some making more than $1 million renting several properties on that platform.
Oddly, hours after the Current came out, the Nantucket information became no longer available, while the company’s analyses of the other 29 top Massachusetts Airbnb STR towns remain available, just missing #6: Nantucket. It could be that some technical error has occurred, but that seems unlikely.
When voters decide in a week between two very different proposals for how to manage STRs in Nantucket it would seem wise for them to have as much information as possible. It would be unconscionable if information is purposely being hidden from the public prior to that vote.
