Where's The Plan?

To the editor: As proposed, the first phase of the geotube expansion will require roughly 6,000 round trip truckloads of sand in year one, and about 2,000 truckloads every year that the geotubes remain on the beach.
In their August 14th letter to the editor, SBPF does not dispute these estimates, but indicates that it has a plan for managing those deliveries, using “designated alternate routes” during “limited hours” of operation, “primarily in the off-season.”
It is important that SBPF share this plan publicly, so that residents can begin to understand how these thousands of dump truck deliveries will impact their neighborhood, and the island overall.
Specifically: What portion of that sand will be barged from off-island, and require routing through downtown streets? What specific routes will be used to transport the sand from the harbor – and from any on-island sites – through Sconset Village to the Baxter Road dump sites?
We may agree to disagree about the merits of this project, but let’s do so focusing on the facts. Thank you.
