Current Voices: Should Cell Phones Be Banned In School?

Nantucket school committee voted unanimously last week to approve a "Bell-to-Bell" cell phone ban, which will go into effect for Nantucket High School and Cyrus Peirce Middle School requiring students to place their phones and other personal electronics in secure, magnetically locked bags at the start of each school day, only retrieving them after the final bell.
In the aftermath of that decision, the Current walked around downtown Nantucket asking passerbys for their opinion on whether cell phones should be banned in schools or not.
