Obituary: Robert Michetti, 1953 - 2024
Nantucket Current •
Robert (B.O.B forward and backward) Michetti, 70, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at his Yarmouth home with his family by his side.
Bob was born October 26, 1953, in Nantucket, MA. He graduated from Nantucket High School as valedictorian in 1971 and went to Bates College. Bob worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years; his early years on Nantucket and later as a postmaster in North Chatham, MA.
Though Bob may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his immense love honored. He was a man of great humor, wisdom, integrity, kindness, and generosity. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to him. Bob cherished every moment spent with his family. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. Splitting his retired years between Yarmouth and Florida, Bob was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed being on the Board of Directors for the Osterville Mens Club and could be found delivering Meals on Wheels, bowling, and working in the garden. His love for really bad “dad jokes" was something he shared with his children and grandchildren, leaving a mark that will never fade.
Preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Pauline Michetti, and brother Frank Michetti. Bob is survived by the love of his life, Susan Franco, his children/stepchildren Chad, Lucas, Andrew, and Connor Michetti, Kelly Corbett, Jason, and Josh Torres, their spouses and thirteen grandchildren (Oscar, Isaac, Jaida, Boden, Asa, Porter, Tatum, Charlotte, Ayla, Will, James, Jeffery and Lola), his brother, Paul Michetti and sister Susan Miller, as well as many extended family members who will miss him dearly.
To honor Bob’s wishes, services will be private. His family finds comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
