Lola Burger Is Cooked. Popular Restaurant At The Rotary Closing And Property Up For Sale

Lola Burger, the popular restaurant at the Milestone Rotary, will not reopen this summer and the property hit the market Monday listed at $2.95 million.
The beer and burger joint has been in business at the rotary since May 2013, when restaurateur Marco Coelho started it as a spinoff from his South Beach Street dining hotpot Lola 41.
Coelho confirmed to the Current Tuesday that the Nantucket Lola Burger at the rotary was indeed closing as his team shifts focus to his off-island restaurants including a new venture in Naples, Florida.
“The dynamics of the housing situation on Nantucket plus the labor pool and with everything we have going on off-island, we really want to focus off-island for now and take a break (from Lola Burger) for this year and next year,” Coelho told the Current. “Our places off-island are doing extremely well, and we’re opening more, so I need our team to focus off-island right now. And the labor pool on Nantucket is unbelievable right now. It’s impossible.”
Coelho added that the goal would be to eventually reopen Lola Burger in a new downtown location, but that was likely several years down the road. He said there would be no changes to the Lola 41 restaurant on South Beach Street on Nantucket.
The Lola restaurant group now has locations in Nantucket, Boston, and Palm Beach.
BVS Rotary Investments, a company registered to Coelho, has owned the property at 1 Sparks Avenue since October 2016, when it was acquired for $2 million.
The Lola Burger web site appears to have already scrubbed the Nantucket location, listing only the Boston Lola Burger in the Seaport district among its establishments.

The news of Lola Burger hitting the market was just the latest potential shakeup in the Nantucket dining scene in as many days, following the news on Monday that year-round favorite Faregrounds Restaurant & Pudley’s Pub is also up for sale.
