Athletic Department Announces Two Coaching Hires

Nantucket Athletic Director Travis Lombardi announced a pair of head coaching hires Tuesday afternoon with the beginning of the 2024 fall sports season right around the corner.

Makalia Lyons has been hired as the school's new varsity volleyball coach and Chris Miemiec, the head coach of the school's winter track & field team, has been hired to become their new cross country coach.

Lyons will be taking over for Andrew Viselli, who announced he was retiring from coaching late last month after 30 years (nine on Nantucket) while Miemiec will be taking over for Lisa Wisentaner, who told the Current Tuesday afternoon she will be taking the year off from coaching.

Both teams can begin team practice on Monday, August 19.
