Boys Lacrosse Loses 10-6 To Nauset

While the Nantucket boys lacrosse team lost to Nauset at home earlier this month 15-10, they had plenty of reasons to feel confident about their chances on Tuesday in a rematch on the road.
The Whalers were coming off a strong effort against the Sandwich Blue Knights last Thursday (12-7 loss) and saw what they were capable of being in their first matchup with the Warriors on May 5. Nantucket had a 6-3 lead midway through the second quarter and believed that production was more indicative of what kind of team they are as opposed to the version of themselves that allowed 10 consecutive goals immediately afterwards to give Nauset a 13-6 lead they would never give back.
The game was competitive, physical, and well played between two solid programs, but Nantucket lost 10-6 and they are now 6-8 this season.
Head coach Sam Aloisi said he felt like his team played well and tipped his cap to Nauset, who he believes is a very good team.
Sophomore attacker Cole Chambers and sophomore midfielder/attacker Jack Halik each had two goals. Senior attackers Cosmo Tedeschi and Camden Knapp each had one goal.
While Nantucket is two games below .500, their place within the MIAA's Div. 4 State Tournament remains very much intact. Nantucket will likely receive a first round playoff game due to their strong strength of schedule.
The Whalers will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Plymouth to take on the Plymouth South Panthers at 4 p.m. These two teams played an instant classic last month, but the Whalers ultimately lost the game 10-9 in overtime.
