The boys tennis team kicked off the Nantucket High School's 2026 spring sports regular season play on Thursday with a road matchup against a familiar Cape & Island foe, the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins.
The Whalers won the match 3-2 despite being without two of their top players in Fuller Holland and Alec Anguelov, who will both contribute to Nantucket's starting lineup this spring.
Nantucket was led by senior and top singles player Nik Krastev, who won in straight sets 7-6 and 6-2. Knox Keating, a junior, slid into the second singles slot and won in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
Eighth graders Toni Todorov and Maxim Iancu played as the Whaler's second doubles pairing and made the most of their opportunity by winning their match in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
Nantucket, now 1-0 this season, will try to improve to 2-0 when they travel to play Martha's Vineyard on Saturday, April 4th at 12:30 p.m.
