Evelyn Fey, a senior captain for the Whaler girl's hockey team this winter, was informed on Tuesday that she has been named the Cape & Islands recipient for the 2022 Boston Bruins-MIAA Sportsmanship Award. Fey will receive two tickets to the Bruins' game on Thursday, March 31, against the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m.

This award is presented annually by the Boston Bruins and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) to one individual player from each high school ice hockey league in the state who exemplifies the highest standards of fair play and sportsmanship. She and the other recipients will be honored during one of the game's intermissions. It will also be the night that the Bruins honor recently retired goaltender Tuukka Rask, who will be in attendance for a ceremonial puck drop to honor his career that came to a close in February. The night has all the makings to be a very memorable one for Fey.

Fey has anchored the Whaler's program through its first three seasons from both a leadership and production standpoint. Fey was a two-year captain, finishing her high school hockey career with 29 goals and 26 assists for 55 points. She capped off her senior season with 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points in 17 games this winter
