The Whaler girls lacrosse team traveled to Sandwich for a Division 4 State Quarterfinal matchup with the Blue Knights Thursday afternoon hoping to continue their season, but saw their tournament run come to an end in a 20-5 defeat against the top seed in the tournament.

Louisa Beni scored twice for Nantucket while Quinn Canty, Grace Schroeder, and Myah Johnson each scored once.

A successful season in the books for Nantucket, which was the first for head coach Kelly Brown. They finished the year 16-2 in the regular season and have now made the state quarterfinal in five straight seasons.

The boys lacrosse team is the only Whaler team remaining in state tournament play. They will host #7 Pentucket in the state quarterfinal. The date and time is to be determined.

Below are some photos from Thursday's game.
