The Nantucket Athletic Department has hired Jazmine Kasperzyk as the new Varsity Cheerleading Head Coach.

“Jazmine brings a decade of coaching experience to the position, including four years as an assistant coach for the varsity Cheerleading program at Nantucket High School,” athletic director Travis Lombardi said in an announcement. “With a deep background in cheerleading, gymnastics, and dance, she brings extensive knowledge of the sport along with a true passion for mentoring and developing young athletes."

On top of her years as an assistant cheerleading head coach, Kasperzyk currently works full-time as the sports and wellness coordinator for the Nantucket Community School, where she has spearheaded its youth cheerleading program.

“Jazmine looks forward to stepping into the role of varsity head cheerleading coach with a commitment to honoring the traditions and foundation that have been established within the program, while also creating new opportunities for its continued growth and success,” Lombardi continued. “Her familiarity with the program, dedication to our student-athletes, and experience working alongside the team will be extremely beneficial during this transition.”

Lombardi said the athletic department feels Kasperzyk’s energy, knowledge, commitment to student-athlete development, and passion for cheerleading made her an excellent fit to lead the program into its next chapter.

“We look forward to seeing her continue to create a positive, supportive, and competitive environment for our student-athletes while helping the Nantucket High School Cheerleading program continue to grow,” Lombardi concluded.

Kasperzyk will be taking the place of longtime cheer coach and island native Missy Perry, who was a Nantucket cheerleader growing up and led the program as head coach for decades.
