All ten Nantucket runners completed Monday's Boston Marathon, and the Current tracked each of them and how they fared.
Ryan Clark, Morgan Coffin, Carlisle Jensen, James Meehan, Sean Mitchell, Grace-Anne Tornovish, Bradley Humphries, John Magnusson, Ben Zieff, and Mary McGinty are the ten registered Nantucket runners who participated.
Below are the times of each runner, along with photos shared with the Current from what was a very memorable day for these island runners.
Update 10 on Monday, April 18 @ 4:25 p.m. - Bradley Humphries has completed the Boston Marathon! Humphries crossed the finish line at 4:24 p.m. and completed his marathon in 5:06.17. Humphries ran to support Mass General Hospital. Humphries experienced a two year health setback on Labor Day of 2017 and embarked on a long journey back to normal.
"It started with a gallstone attack that gave way to a series of digestive disorders with my pancreas, gallbladder, liver, and portal vein. After a million tests, procedures, and surgery I was left with symptoms that would not clear. A new team of MGH doctors uncovered the underlying problem, which was that the neurological connection between my brain and digestive system was severed. This led to many months of medicine, mind-body work, about a dozen eastern/homeopathic approaches followed and as I turned 50 I was back to work and full health."
Update 9 on Monday, April 18 @ 4:13 p.m. - Jim Meehan has completed the Boston Marathon. He ran it in 4:52.29 and officially crossed the finish line at 4:07 p.m. Meehan ran to support cancer care and research at Dana Farber. On his fundraising page, Meehan says that his family, including himself, has been hit hard by cancer.
Meehan was diagnosed in 2020 with prostate cancer and is currently being treated at Mass General Hospital, an affiliate of Dana Farber. Meehan’s brother has successfully faced multiple myeloma and his mother died from small cell lung cancer.
Update 8 on Monday, April 18 @ 4:06 p.m. - Grace-Anne Tornovish completed the Boston Marathon just after 4 p.m. with a time of 4:43.02. Tornovish raised money by running in support of Tedy’s Team, an organization that supports stroke and heart disease survivors along with their families. The organization was originally set up by former New England Patriots linebacker and Nantucket summer resident Tedy Bruschi in 2005 after he suffered a stroke at the age of 31.
Update 7 on Monday, April 18 @ 4:04 p.m. - Deputy Fire Chief Sean Mitchell has crossed the finish line! Mitchell finished the marathon in 4:44.14 and officially crossed the line at 4:01 p.m. Mitchell ran to raise money for the Last Call Foundation, which we documented back in October in this story.
Update 6 on Monday, April 18 @ 4:02 p.m. - Morgan Coffin becomes the fifth Nantucket runner to complete the Boston Marathon today. She crossed the finish line at 3:58 p.m. and finished with a time of 4:39.33. Coffin raised money for the Brittany Fund for Trauma and Recovery, which was created in 2013 in the wake of the Boston Marathon Bombing by survivor Brittany Loring. BFTR provides support to promote health and well-being for families and individuals affected by traumatic events such as natural disasters, car accidents, and acts of terror. Funds provided seek to serve the physical and mental needs of trauma survivors.
Update 5 on Monday, April 18 @ 4:00 p.m. - John "Drew" Magnusson completed the Boston Marathon at 3:57 p.m. in 4:40.20. He ran representing the Bill Belichick Foundation. Update 2 on Monday, April 18 @ 3:13 p.m. - Pictured below is Carlisle Jensen, who has crossed the finish line! Jensen completed the marathon at 3:12 p.m. in 3:51.20. Jensen ran to honor her father who passed away in 2020 after a battle with ALS and raise funds for an organization that has done so much for her and her family.
