2024-2025 Winter Sports Photo Wrap Up
David Creed and Chris Tran •

With the 2024-2025 winter sports season in the rearview mirror for Nantucket High School, the Current has gathered together a large quantity of photos from the year. Photos, which can be found below, consist of boys hockey, girls basketball, boys basketball, girls hockey, and indoor track.
Boys Basketball: 8-12 record and #33 in the Div. 4 bracket. The Top 32 teams punch their tickets to the state tournament, which left the Whalers just short.
Girls Basketball: 9-10 record and #48 in the Div. 4 bracket. If you do not find yourself within the bracket's top 32, teams have a chance to clinch a play-in game if they finish their season with a .500 record or better. Had the Whalers won their game against Mashpee last week (lost 42-41), they would have extended their season.
Boys Hockey: 1-14 record and #42 in the Div. 4 bracket. A streak of three straight state quarterfinals appearances has been snapped, but Nantucket will graduate just one senior and is positioned to bounce back in a big way next winter.
Boys & Girls Swim: The girls swim team placed 12th in the state sectional meet out of 39 teams while the boys placed 21st out of 41 teams. In states, the girls placed 14th out of 39 teams with 57 team points.
The boys only sent two swimmers - Jake Johnson and Eli MacIver. Johnson competed in the 50-yard freestyle and placed 4th in his heat and sixth overall in the event with a time of 22.15. Johnson also competed in the 100-yard freestyle and placed second overall with a time of 48.47.
MacIver competed in the 200-yard individual medley and placed 19th with a time of 2:08.61. MacIver also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke and placed 19th overall with a time of 1:06.34.
