This week’s Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from the Monday and Tuesday Nantucket District Court sessions. It is led by an island resident arraigned in court for allegedly driving his truck through six panels of wooden fencing and approximately 75 yards of grass field before he came to a stop roughly a football field's length away from the roadway and was found by first responders unconscious in the driver's seat with a 750 mL bottle of gin underneath the seat.
Skylar B. Jorgensen, 28, of Nantucket was arraigned on May 31st, 2026 charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, marked lanes violation, speeding, possessing an open container of alcohol while in a motor vehicle, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court September 14th for a pretrial hearing.
According to the police report, officer Kelly Mayette was dispatched to the area of Hummock Pond Road and Somerset Lane at approximately 1:58 a.m. on May 31 following the report of a White Dodge Ram pickup truck that was off of the roadway with an unresponsive male driver. Upon arrival, police located the truck in shrubbery in the outbound lane approximately 100 yards off the roadway.
Police approached the vehicle and observed the driver - identified as Jorgensen - as the driver and sole occupant. he was unconscious but breathing. Officers and members of the Nantucket Fire Department banged on the windows and shined flashlights into the interior of the vehicle . They eventually broke the passenger window to extract Jorgensen from the vehicle, who did not regain consciousness during the extraction process.
Eventually, Jorgensen regained consciousness and had a slow, lethargic demeanor. His eyes were allegedly blood shot and glossy. Police said following the investigation, they learned the truck struck six panels of wooden split rail fencing and traveled approximately 75 yards across a grass field before coming to its final position "in thick shrubbery."
While police searched the vehicle, they found a 750 mL container of Engine Organic Gin under the driver's seat. It was open and had a small portion of liquid left inside the container, which police said smelled like an alcoholic substance.
In other Nantucket District Court news, Andre Hamilton, the 33-year-old Nantucket man hospitalized following the June 23rd downtown stabbing, was arraigned on June 24th charges of assault & battery and assault & battery with a dangerous weapon. The arraignment occurred on August 6th, three days after a warrant was issued for Hamilton’s arrest for failing to appear in court. Hamilton appeared voluntarily for the arraignment. He was ordered to return to court October 19th for a pretrial hearing.
Joan Alvarez Colado, 49, of Nantucket will have June 5th, 2025 charges of larceny over $1,200 by a single scheme and receiving a lost credit card dismissed on the condition he pay $157.35 in restitution.
After being continued without a finding for one year, Vincent G. Goulding, 27, of Nantucket had March 7th, 2025 charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle dismissed.
Alexander D. Karis, 53, of Nantucket will have October 2nd, 2025 charges of leaving the scene of property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle continued without a finding for six months. He was found not responsible for a charge of failing to stop/yield stemming from the same incident.
Erick Marmolejos Burgos, 23, of Nantucket will have an April 17th charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle continued without a finding for one year. Charges of marked lanes violation and speeding stemming from the same incident were dismissed.
Kemar N. Thompson, 31, of Nantucket will have a June 18th charge of assault & battery on a family/household member dismissed on the condition he complete one month of pretrial probation.
