This week’s Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from Tuesday’s Nantucket District Court session. It is led by a pair of island residents whose apartment was raided by members of the Nantucket Police & Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in late December, as well as an island resident arrested after performing sexual acts on himself at Cisco and Miacomet Beach.
Jason Pearl, 25, of Nantucket was arraigned on 11 charges filed on Dec. 23rd, 2024, including improper storage of a firearm, one charge of possessing a large capacity firearm, and one charge of possessing over 10 ounces of marijuana.
Angel Landaverde, 23, of Nantucket was arraigned on four charges of improper storage of a firearm, also lodged on Dec. 23rd, 2024.
Both Pearl and Landaverde pleaded not guilty to all of the charges they are facing and they were released on the condition they don’t possess any firearms or marijuana. They were both ordered to return to court March 3rd for a pretrial hearing and are being represented by attorney Jim Merberg.
According to the police report, members of the Nantucket Police Department, Environmental Police Department, and ATF executed a search warrant at 6A Benjamin Road on December 23rd that was granted through the Nantucket District Court. They were searching for silencers, any illegal firearms/accessories, and receipts/documents pertaining to the sale and purchase of the items. Pearl was the subject of the warrant.
As officials began to search Pearl’s bedroom, they found a loaded Glock handgun under Pearl’s pillow on his bed that was not locked or properly secured. They proceeded to find nine other firearms located in his closet that were not locked or properly secured. Police said Pearl’s bedroom door and house were unlocked and unsecured.
Police also found approximately 5.8 pounds of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in six vacuumed sealed bags in a roommate’s bedroom closet, and Pearl allegedly told police during an interview it was his. Police then searched Pearl’s truck and found a large capacity magazine drum located in the glove box, a pro mag 30 round .22 caliber drum magazine, and a shot gun located between the driver’s seat and center console not properly locked or secured.
As for Landaverde, during the search of the property police located a handgun under a pillow on his bed not properly secured or locked as well as three other firearms in his room that were registered to him and not properly locked or secured. The bedroom and closet were not locked, according to police, and neither was the residence.

According to the police report, an officer was dispatched to Miacomet Beach following the report of a male masturbating in the area. Upon the NPD’s arrival, an officer allegedly saw Delgado walk away from the beach toward their direction before quickly getting into his white Ford pickup truck and exiting the parking lot.
Police stopped Delgado and said he allegedly matched the description given by the reporting party of the man who was committing this sexual act, which police said highly offended the reporting party. A second individual reported to police that they saw Delgado masturbating at Miacomet Beach and that once he saw her, he continued to do so while she was walking her dog.
The next day on January 14th, one of the NPD officers who responded to the incident the day prior was asked to return a call from a woman regarding an incident at Cisco Beach. The woman told police at approximately 9 a.m. on January 13th she was walking her dog at Cisco Beach when she saw an old white pickup truck in the parking lot and observed a man sitting in the truck as she walked down onto the beach.
When the woman was on the beach she looked back towards the parking lot and saw a man matching the description of Delgado actively masturbating in the middle of the parking lot. When she looked back a second time, Delgado was continuing to do so.
This incident allegedly occurred three hours prior to the Miacomet Beach incidents. The man at both incidents had an identical description attributed to him and the truck was the same make and model at both beaches.
