This week’s Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from the Monday and Tuesday Nantucket District Court sessions.
After completing one year of probation following guilty pleas to June 13th, 2025 charges of assault & battery on a family/household member (subsequent offense), assault & battery with a dangerous weapon, and resisting arrest, Eugene T. Butler, 46, of Nantucket had the probation terminated and the case is now closed.
Gustavo Carlos Rodrigues, 26, of Nantucket had three March 3rd charges of receiving stolen property over $1,200 dismissed due to lack of prosecution after a motion to suppress evidence/information in the case was granted by the court, which subsequently led to the Cape & Island’s District Attorney’s Office declining to move forward with the case.
Rodrigues was the island resident arraigned in March on charges that alleged he purchased motorcycles with a stolen or fraudulent credit card in Connecticut, had them shipped to the island, and then attempted to sell them through Facebook Marketplace to an individual in Framingham below market price but above what he paid for them in the initial transactions in late February.
Michelle Christine Maffeo, 36, of Nantucket will have an April 27th, 2025 charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol continued without a finding for one year on the condition she complete a driver alcohol education course, forfeit her license for 45 days, and pay $600 in fees. Charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a motor vehicle equipment violation stemming from the same incident were dismissed.
Thomas A. Riche, 33, of Nantucket was arraigned on a July 10th charge of assault & battery on a person over the age of 60. He had a not-guilty plea entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court July 27 for a pretrial hearing.
Bouchra Yates-Ciarmataro, 44, of Nantucket had a May 5th charges of assault on a family/household member and violating an abuse prevention order dismissed due to lack of prosecution after the alleged victim in the case declined to cooperate with prosecutors.
