This week’s Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from Monday’s Nantucket District Court session.
Samantha Brownell, 35, of Nantucket, was arraigned on July 28, 2023 charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of property damage. She had not-guilty pleas entered on her behalf and was ordered to return to court July 8 for a pretrial hearing.
Newton J. Friese, 56, of New Canaan, Connecticut, will have May 30 charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle continued without a finding for one year on the condition he complete his probation without a violation, complete a driver alcohol education program, and pay $600 in fees.
A charge of child endangerment while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol stemming from the same incident was dismissed while he was found not responsible on charges of speeding and a lights violation.
Alex Emerson Horan, 29, of Boca Grande, Florida, was arraigned on June 25 charges of possessing a class B drug (three counts), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a marked lanes violation, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court July 22 for a pretrial hearing.
Jason Irving, 50, of Nantucket, was arraigned on July 1 charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court Sept. 3 for a pretrial hearing.
Miriam Leland Jube, 39, of Nantucket, will have a May 18 charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol continued without a finding for one year on the condition she complete the probation without a violation, complete a driver alcohol education program, and pay $600 in fees.
Charges of possessing a class C drug, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle stemming from the same incident were dismissed.
Marcio Rodrigues da Silva, 46, of Nantucket, was arraigned on June 30 charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court July 31 for a pretrial hearing.
