This week’s Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from the Monday and Tuesday Nantucket District Court sessions.
Kramer Hunter Mumford, 33, of Nantucket was arraigned on a July 17th charge of failure to register as a level two or three sex offender. He had a not-guilty plea entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court September 14th for a pretrial hearing.
According to the police report, at approximately 3:15 p.m. on July 17th, Nantucket Police officer Joseph Tirone arrived at Sayles Seafood to inquire about Mumford's employment status. Nantucket Tirone says in the report that as a registered level 2 sex offender, Mumford is required to update his employment with the Sex Offender Registry Board and The Nantucket Police Department.
“ACJIS inquiry and The Nantucket Police Departments records revealed that Mumford had not listed Sayles Seafood as his employer with the Sex Offender Registry Board or The Nantucket Police Department,” Tirone wrote in the report.
Nantucket Police said Mumford was identified as a delivery driver for Sayles Seafood on June 23rd during a call for service. On July 14th during a motor vehicle stop, Tirone said he observed Mumford to be operating a Sayles Seafood delivery vehicle.
“I spoke with Charles Sayles – an owner of Sayles Seafood – who stated that Mumford is a W-2 employee and has been working for Sayles Seafood for approximately two months,” Tirone said. “I later spoke with Mumford who advised me that he has been an employee of Sayles Seafood for approximately 60 days and was unaware that he had to update his employment with The Nantucket Police Department and the Sex Offender Registry Board.”
Mumford was arrested by the police department subsequently appeared in court on Monday for his arraignment. He was released on his personal recognizance. Mumford is being represented by attorney Erin Donovan.
"Mr. Mumford has properly registered and has been properly registering every year," Donovan said. "What had happened is he started a new job, and he hadn't reported the job. That has since been done, though."
In other Nantucket District Court news, Shawn Duncan, 52, was arraigned in Nantucket District Court Monday morning for allegedly hitting Calray Brown, 31, in the back with a four-foot construction level and several times with a glass ginger beer bottle in the back, head, and right elbow. Brown, along with Dijon K. Hazel (30), Newton Lawrence (35), and Alvin Barnett (21), were arraigned for allegedly kidnapping Duncan’s nephew two days later at Winter Park on July 16th, tying him up with an extension cord, and beating him up. All five individuals reside on Nantucket and were released after posting a small amount in cash bail. You can read the full story on this case here.
Alexandra Bankart, 36, of Nantucket was arraigned on a July 17th charge of fugitive from justice. She had a not-guilty plea entered on her behalf and was ordered to return to court August 3rd for a pretrial hearing. The warrant was an extraditable warrant out of South Carolina.
When the Current asked NPD Lieutenant Angus MacVicar for more details on what the warrant was for, he directed the publication to submit a Freedom of Information Act Request, which takes up to 10 days to be fulfilled.
Nina Cammarata, 53, of Nantucket was arraigned on July 19th charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and a motor vehicle lights violation. She had not-guilty pleas entered on her behalf and was ordered to return to court August 3rd for a pretrial hearing.
Rachel T. Estepa, 37, of Nantucket had an April 12th charge of assault & battery on a family/household member dismissed due to lack of prosecution after the alleged victim in the case declined to cooperate with prosecutors.
After completing one year of probation following a guilty plea to a February 22nd, 2024 charge of possessing a Class B drug (subsequent offense), Patrick William Gardner, 37, of Nantucket had his probation terminated and the case is now closed.
Joshua D. Holdgate, 37, of Nantucket had a June 10th, 2026 charge of assault & battery on a family/household member dismissed due to lack of prosecution after the alleged victim in the case declined to cooperate with prosecutors.
Andrea Marelli, 35, of Nantucket was arraigned on two July 18th charges of violating an harassment prevention order. She had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court August 18th for a pretrial hearing.
After being continued without a finding for one year, Kenneth R. Reed, 73, of Nantucket had January 6th, 2025 charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation dismissed.
After being continued without a finding for one year, Nazair T. Thompson, 24, of Nantucket had a May 24th, 2025 charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol dismissed.
Lauren Vanoni, 60, of Nantucket will have a June 8th charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol continued without a finding for one year on the condition she complete a driver alcohol education program, forfeit her license for 45 days, and pay $600 in fees.
