An island resident is facing charges in Nantucket District Court after allegedly shoving a Nantucket Police Department community service officer over a downtown parking dispute, approaching a different CSO the next day to accuse them of reporting him, and then threatening to get the officer fired.

Aleksandar Stevovic
, 26, of Nantucket was arraigned Monday on a June 16th charge of assault and battery on a public employee and a June 17th charge of intimidating a witness/juror/police/court official. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court June 29th for a pretrial hearing.

According to report obtained by the Current, Nantucket Police were asked to investigate a potential assault and battery that occurred between Stevovic and a community service officer on June 16th. The investigation revealed that a community service officer was working his assigned area while in uniform, assisting with Hy-Line traffic at 20 Straight Wharf. At that time, Stevovic allegedly got into a verbal disagreement with the CSO over a parking issue.

During this disagreement, the CSO attempted to show Stevovic a Town of Nantucket bylaw, and was allegedly pushed by Stevovic with his left forearm in the stomach area. While the CSO was not injured, he stated to police there was enough force used that it made him state “do not put your hands on me” in the moment.

The next day on June 17th at approximately 11:35 a.m. in the area of New Whale Street, a different community service officer was allegedly confronted by Stevovic about the incident after Stevovic was informed he was being criminally charged. He allegedly asked the CSO “who reported me?” after being told not to contact any witnesses by police. He then allegedly told the CSO “Were you the witness? I am going to get you fired.”
