Stolen Motorcycles In Connecticut Lead To Arrest Of Nantucket Resident

An island resident was arraigned in court on charges that allege he purchased motorcycles with a stolen or fraudulent credit card in Connecticut, had them shipped to the island, and then attempted to sell them through Facebook Marketplace to an individual in Framingham below market price but above what he paid for them in the initial transactions in late February.

Gustavo Carlos Rodrigues
, 25, of Nantucket, was arraigned on three March 3rd, 2026 charges of receiving stolen property greater than $1,200. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and will return to court next week on March 16th for a pretrial hearing, where he will be seeking to have the case dismissed due to lack of probable cause.

According to the police report, Nantucket police detective James Olson spoke with Framingham Police Department detective Christopher McGinty the morning of March 3rd regarding reports they received from Vernon Police Department detective Cody Flanigan in Connecticut about stolen motorcycles.

Detectives stated that Gustavo was attempting to sell three motorcycles on Facebook Marketplace to an individual in Framingham. After a CJIS (FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services) inquiry revealed Gustavo to have a Nantucket address on Miacomet Avenue, Framingham police reached out to NPD.

Olson proceeded to drive to the listed address for Gustavo and observed the three motorcycles listed on the marketplace. Olson called Flanigan to report what he found, and Flanagan stated that four motorcycles were bought at Kaplan Cycles in Connecticut with what was later determined to be a stolen/fraudulent credit card. All four motorcycles were then placed in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.

Later that day, four officers returned to the Miacomet Avenue property to locate the stolen motorcycles. All three VIN’s matched motorcycles that were listed as stolen in the NCIC, with two of the three motorcycles found matching ones listed in the Marketplace listing in question. The motorcycles found were two 2026 red GasGas EC300s and a red 2025 GasGas Ex250F.

Olson said his investigation revealed that Gustavo had just recently purchased the motorcycles in late February and had already listed them on Facebook Marketplace for $3,000 more than he paid. Through social media posts, it was revealed Gustavo was attempting to sell the motorcycles for a value higher than he paid for them ($6,000) and lower than the retail value ($11,750). The motorcycles had also been transported from Worcester to Nantucket prior to the attempted sales.

“The above facts show that a normal person would believe the transaction to not be legitimate in nature,” Olson concluded. Gustavo was eventually located and placed under arrest for receiving stolen property.
