MacNab Wins Select Board Race
Jason Graziadei •
Physician and former Board of Health member Malcolm MacNab claimed victory Tuesday night in a close race for a seat on the Nantucket Select Board. MacNab narrowly beat out Planning Board member and business owner David Iverson. MacNab will serve the remaining six months of outgoing Select Board member Melissa Murphy's term before running again for a full term next May.
"It was a good race, and I feel quite honored to win," MacNab told the Current Tuesday night, moments after his victory. "I have great respect for the people I ran against. Everyone had something to offer, and now I have to get down to business."
MacNab said he was already reviewing the agenda for Wednesday night's Select Board meeting, as well as looking ahead to the long-term issues facing the town.
"I think we need to restructure town government," he said. "We're not a sleepy little village anymore. Things need to be more efficient, and move faster."
